Burgess Shale Fossil Collection: 4 Rubber Stamps

Starting at: $15.00

The famous Cambrian fossils of the Burgess Shale revealed some of the strangest lifeforms ever discovered. When Charles Doolittle Walcott first uncovered the fossils of the Burgess Shale in British Columbia, he probably had no idea what an amazing group of animals he was about to reveal. Now you can travel back 508 million years ago to the Middle Cambrian with all 4 stamps in our Burgess Shale Fossil Collection in one money saving package. Watermark copyright is not on the stamps you will receive. Butter Side Down Stamps' rubber stamps are made from high-quality, deep-etched, red rubber. 100% made in the USA.

Angry Anomalocaris: Amomalocaris is another example of the wondrous animals of the famed Burgess Shale of Canada. The name Anomalocaris means “abnormal shrimp” and it is thought to be an ancient relative of the arthropods. Pieces of this leg-sized predator were found separately and presented quite a paleontological puzzle until and entire specimen was revealed. Stamped image is shown. Image size: 5.6 x 3.5cm; 2.2 x 1.4 inch. 2.5 x 2 inch hand-stamped, hardwood mount.

Hallucigenia: Probably none are stranger than the crawling, spiny oddity called Hallucigenia. The name itself reflects the puzzlement of the paleontological discoverers. Stamped image is shown. Image size: 4.7 x 3.1cm; 1.9 x 1.2 inch. 2.5 x 2 inch hand-stamped, hardwood mount.

Opabinia: Opabinia regalis is another example of the strange watery world 500 million years ago. Stamped image is shown. mage size: 6.7 x 1.6cm; 2.7 x .6 inch. 3 x 1.5 inch hand-stamped, hardwood mount.

Friendly Anomalocaris: We like to think that Amomalocaris of the Burgess Shale were not always angry swimming predators. Large, friendly compound eyes, flexible undulating body, grasping, barbed arms and crushing mouth parts—what’s not to love? Stamped image is shown. Image size: 5.8 x 2.9cm; 2.0 x 1.1 inch. 2.5 x 2 inch hand-stamped, hardwood mount.
